KEITH V. GOODMAN
Keith V. Goodman is an independent choreographer and artistic director for
his contemporary dance company Dance Gatherer.
Mr. Goodman's approach to contemporary dance draws from his past performance work with
Liz Lerman, dance technique
education with Jan Van Dyke at the Dance Project in Washington, DC, Merce
Cunningham technique at Westbeth, New York, and various folkloric movement
artists in the Caribbean including
Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba, Havana Cuba.
His independent choreographic projects, performance experiences, and teaching have been
regionally focused in the Pacific Northwest, with additional work in New York, Washington, DC
and abroad. Recent travel has included three trips to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil which involved
contemporary collaboration with Elisio Pita at Instituto Oya. Currently his artistic direction also includes choreography and co-direction with artistic director Barry Hunt of Sowelu Theater in Portland, OR.
Mr. Goodman is currently a dance educator for
Buckman Elementary Arts Magnet School, in Portland, Oregon and as a national consultant and trainer for educators and dancers. His dance education work has included work with the Leonard Bernstein Center for Learning in Los Angeles, CA, Reed and Lewis and Clark Colleges in Portland, OR and various other intitutions nationally and abroad.
